Copa Airlines recognised as the most punctual airline in Latin America
The airline starts 2018 reaffirming its leadership on punctuality, recognised by OAG and FlightStats as the region's most punctual carrier and the fourth most punctual in the world.
Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. (NYSE: CPA) and a member of the Star Alliance global airline network, starts 2018 with good news for its passengers, reaffirming its leadership and commitment to punctuality. That point of difference was recognised by the respected aviation analysis firms OAG (Official Airline Guide, of London) and FlightStats, which named Copa Airlines the most punctual airline in Latin America and the fourth most punctual airline in the world.
On this significant achievement, Copa Airlines chief executive Pedro Heilbron said he was "very proud to receive these recognitions, which are the result of the dedication and commitment of the whole Copa Airlines team who, despite difficulties beyond the company's control faced in 2017, allowed us to consolidate punctuality as one of our main points of difference in the competitive aviation industry of Latin America and the world."
On how passengers benefit from these recognitions, Heilbron said: "The awards endorse our priority and interest in meeting the needs of our passengers, who trust us daily to reach their destinations on time."
As a result of this work, FlightStats, the leading aviation and air travel data company, which looks in depth at airline performance worldwide, gave Copa Airlines the recognition of most punctual airline in Latin America for the fifth consecutive year in its On Time Performance Service 2017 ranking, where it recorded an index of 86.56 per cent.

From the story
Likewise, according to figures from OAG after analysing information on 57 million flights, Copa Airlines achieved a punctuality index in 2017 that places it as the most punctual in Latin America and the fourth most punctual in the world. OAG assesses airline performance on cancellations and on arrivals and departures within 15 minutes of the scheduled time.
FlightStats compiles its scores by tracking roughly 99,000 flights a day, operated and served by thousands of airlines and airports. Last year more than 36 million flights were processed. Winners are based on analysis of flight status and arrival data drawn from more than 600 global sources, including direct air operations data, airline data through the Global Distribution System, civil aviation authorities, airports and third parties.
These achievements symbolise and consolidate the airline's commitment to its passengers, who increasingly seek and require a company that gets them on time to their business meetings, their dream holidays and their reunions with loved ones.
