Swatch honours Blancpain's iconic Fifty Fathoms with an ocean inspired collection.
Swatch, the well known Swiss watch brand, has launched a new collection in collaboration with Blancpain celebrating the 70th anniversary of the legendary Fifty Fathoms dive watch. The collection, called Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms, is a tribute not only to watchmaking innovation but to the beauty and diversity of our oceans.
The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, launched in 1953, was the first modern dive watch, designed by and for divers. Its legacy of resistance, legibility and precision made it a reference for professionals and diving enthusiasts. Now Swatch reinterprets that icon with its characteristic playful, accessible style, creating a collection of five models that capture the essence of the original Fifty Fathoms.
Each watch in the Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection is named after one of the five oceans: Arctic, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian and Antarctic. The colours and details of each model evoke the marine life and underwater landscapes of each ocean. The back of each watch shows the image of a nudibranch, a colourful sea mollusc, printed on the rotor of the automatic movement.
These watches are not only attractive but innovative and environmentally conscious. They are made with Bioceramic, a material patented by Swatch that combines ceramic with material of biological origin. The NATO straps are made from recycled fishing nets, showing both brands' commitment to protecting the oceans.
One of the most appealing features of this collaboration is its accessible price. Despite being inspired by the prestigious Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, the watches in the Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection cost significantly less, putting them within reach of a wider public. That democratisation of luxury allows watch lovers and diving enthusiasts to own a watch combining history, innovation and style, without compromising quality or design.
The Bioceramic Scuba Fifty Fathoms collection stands out not only for its design and heritage but for technical specifications that guarantee exceptional performance. Each watch has a 42.3 mm case made of Bioceramic, a light, scratch resistant and hypoallergenic material. The bio sourced crystal, also with a scratch resistant coating, protects the dial, which has luminescent indices and hands for optimal legibility in low light. The unidirectional rotating bezel in Bioceramic allows dive time to be tracked precisely, while the screwed case back guarantees water resistance to 91 metres. At the heart of each watch beats Swatch's SISTEM51 automatic mechanical movement, known for its reliability, precision and 90 hour power reserve. The NATO straps, made from recycled fishing nets, are comfortable and hard wearing and reflect both brands' commitment to sustainability and ocean protection.
The Blancpain and Swatch collection will be available soon at Torre Gerais. Purchases are limited to one watch per person per day, and each watch comes in a special case. Do not miss the chance to own a piece of watchmaking history and a tribute to the beauty of our oceans.
