Turner Latin America has announced the arrival of Andrés Mendoza as executive director of acquisitions. Based in Miami, the executive will have responsibilities related to acquiring programming and content to feed the screens of the company's brand portfolio.
Within the Turner Latin America structure, Mendoza will report directly to Tomás Yankelevich, executive vice president and chief content officer for general entertainment, collaborating in the rollout of a new business model in which the company's brands reach fans through a varied and attractive offer of original content available across multiple platforms.
Mendoza arrives from Univision (Univision Communications Inc.), the media group he joined in 2012. From 2014 he served there as vice president of programming and strategy for the UniMás network, responsible for the content strategy of UniMás, the third most important Spanish language network in the United States. Alongside acquisitions, he was also responsible for developing original content with partners including Televisa, Sony Pictures Television, Caracol Televisión and Cisneros Media.
Earlier, between 2006 and 2010, he worked as a news presenter and international producer for Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) on El Observador. Born in Venezuela, Mendoza is a graduate of Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas. He later took a master's in business administration at Georgetown University in Washington, followed by an advanced programme in media and entertainment at IESE, University of Navarra.
Tomás Yankelevich said: "It is a pleasure to welcome Andrés to the team, an outstanding professional with significant achievements in his career within the Latin American industry. We believe his contribution will be fundamental in making the most of our brands at a time when our fans are the focus, fans we want to accompany and surprise with new and more multiplatform content. Nothing could be more fitting than to introduce Andrés in the context of Natpe."
