National Geographic Partners creates new original content for Latin America
The company announces an original docu reality series on the life and work of the region's leading popular icons, with creative direction by Sebastián Ortega.
National Geographic Partners has announced the original production of a new docu reality series on the life and work of the region's leading popular icons, with filming starting in April.
With creative direction by Sebastián Ortega and comprising eight one hour episodes, this new National Geographic series will portray various Latin American idols through the eyes of pragmatic, independent, tech savvy young people who love social media and are somewhat sceptical of the cultural models of the last century and of popular idols.
"This new original content from National Geographic will let us explore, in an original and modern way, some of the idols who make up our identity as Latin Americans. We are very excited to start telling more and more locally relevant stories in the region, with a new narrative dynamic that captures the youngest and most demanding audience. We are sure this new editorial line will excite our distributors and advertisers even more," said Diego Reck, executive vice president of National Geographic Partners in Latin America.
"It is a source of pride to take on such an ambitious project with strategic partners who share the same quality standards as National Geographic in creating bold, original content for an ever more demanding audience. This docu reality is another step in the right direction, alongside one of the most recognised content producers. We are fully confident this partnership will produce a regional success," said Fernando Semenzato, senior vice president of production at National Geographic Partners in Latin America.
"It is a great challenge for Underground to take on a project for National Geographic in a genre and format we had not explored for some time, and one that excites us, since we aim for quality content with a distinctive treatment, telling particular and fascinating aspects of the lives of Latin America's cultural icons. The prestige and track record of this brand motivates me to take on this series of programmes, which will surely be a great experience for both companies," said Sebastián Ortega, general director of Underground Contenidos.
