Gledys Ibarra comes to Caracas to premiere the monologue La Monstrua

With acid poetry and black humour, La Monstrua has captivated audiences in Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Colombia and Spain, among other countries where audiences have been confronted, through comedy, with irreverent and pertinent aspects of the human condition, through a text of considerable dramatic stature structured around a single character who serves as a platform to ask who dares to be the monster today.

"It is a black comedy full of art, joy and reflection, a monologue that will get people talking, and that is why we are inviting people not to miss it," says Carolina Rincón Cardozo, producer of theatrical successes such as The Vagina Monologues, The Dinner Game, El Día que me Quieras, Copenhagen, Baraka, Strawberry and Chocolate, Terror, Love Letters, La Foto, El Vestidor, Art, Brujas and The Marriage of Bette and Boo, among others, who says she is delighted to open the 2023 theatre season with a work that marks Gledys Ibarra's reunion with Venezuela.

"It was a happy coincidence that Gledys wanted to come to the country just as I was putting this project together, waiting only for an actress of her stature, able to inhabit the skin of this complex character," she says. Ibarra, for her part, adds that she is thrilled to be reunited with the Venezuelan public with all the warmth theatre brings. "It will be something very special," she says.
