Air Europa and Copa Airlines announce a new codeshare agreement

Copa Airlines, a subsidiary of Copa Holdings, S.A. (NYSE: CPA), and Air Europa have announced a new codeshare agreement that will connect their extensive destination networks for the convenience of their passengers from 3 June, the day the Spanish airline begins operations in Panama.

Under the agreement Air Europa will place its code on Copa Airlines flights to and from San José, Costa Rica; Managua, Nicaragua; San Salvador, El Salvador; and Guatemala City, allowing its European customers to connect quickly and efficiently through the Hub of the Americas in Panama City, the connecting hub with the largest international air network in Latin America, covering 81 destinations in 33 countries across North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

The new partnership will give passengers of both airlines the convenience of buying a single ticket for their journey and checking baggage through to their final destination. "This agreement between Air Europa and Copa Airlines is an excellent option offering benefits to anyone travelling to Spain from Panama and the rest of the region," said Imanol Pérez, commercial director of Air Europa.

On the connectivity Copa Airlines offers from Panama, the Air Europa commercial director added: "Our passengers will now have access to new destinations in Latin America through the Hub of the Americas. Equally, the Air Europa connection to Madrid will let Copa Airlines passengers connect to our 23 destinations in Spain and 15 destinations in Europe, Africa and the Middle East."
